The trek to Green Lake at the base camp of Mt Khangchendzonga on the Zemu Glacier is indeed a rewarding one. The trek goes through variety of flora and fauna with rhododendron, primulas and poppies. Mt Khangchendzonga looms over the other peaks in the valley.

What is Included:

Day 01: | Bagdogra – Gangtok (1800 meters) Arrival at Bagdogra and then drive to Gangtok, which is the Capital of State Sikkim. (Overnight stay in Gangtok) |
Day 02: | Gangtok – Lachen (2750 meters) Drive from Gangtok to Lachen which offers the panoramic view of the surrounding hills and country side. (Overnight stay in Lachen) |
Day 03: | Lachen – Jakthang (3325 meters) We proceed our trek towards Jakthang. We first reach the Lachen Chu and Zemu Chu junction. After crossing the Zemu Chu, we trek west ward through forest amidst the variety of rhododendroms and boulders while passing through Lhonak Chu where finally we reach Jakthang. (Overnight stay in Jakthang) |
Day 04: | Jakthang – Yabuk (3800 meters) The trail climbs up through the forest abounding in variety of flora and fauna, steadily taking us to the ridge of Zemu Glacier and finally we reach Yabuk. (Overnight stay in Yabuk) |
Day 05: | Yabuk – Rest Camp (4550 meters) Walking over the ridge of Zemu Glacier amidst the boulders finally taking us to the valley from where the peaks are awesome. We then follow the trail to reach the Rest Camp from where the Mt Siniolchu is very near. Various high altitude birds are spotted. (Overnight stay in Rest Camp) |
Day 06: | Halt at Rest Camp for acclimatization We halt at Rest Camp for acclimatization. Depending upon the fitness of the group we organize the short treks aroung the place. (Overnight stay in Rest Camp) |
Day 07: | Rest camp – Green lake (5000 meters) We climb gently up the valley for about four to five hours. The Mt Sinolchu, Mt Simvo and Mt Khangchendzonga are awe inspiring. We finally reach Green Lake. (Overnight stay in Green Lake) |
Day 08: | Halt at Green Lake for sightseeing We spend the day in Green Lake. The magnificient view of Mt Khangchendzonga range is very clear from here. (Overnight stay in Lamuni) |
Day 09: | Green Lake – Yabuk (3800 meters) We trek back to Yabuk. (Overnight stay in Yabuk) |
Day 10: | Yabuk – Jakthang (3325 meters) We trek bach to Jakthang. (Overnight stay in Jakthang) |
Day 11: | Jakthang – Lachen (2750 meters) We trek back to Lachen. (Overnight stay in Lachen) |
Day 12: | Lachen – Lachung (2700 meters) We proceed our journey by Jeep to Lachung through Chopta Valley and Thangu. Thangu is a village at an altitude of 14,000 feet which is about three hours drive from Lachen. It is the place for acclimatization before proceeding towards Gurudongmar Lake, Muguthang or Cho-Lhamu. Finally we reach Lachung a village with its unique self govering body called D-Zumsa. (Overnight stay in Lachung) |
Day 13: | Lachung – Yumthang – Yumesamdong – Lachung Drive to Yumthang which is at an altitude of 11,800 feet and popularly known as the “valley of flowers”. This place is a paradise for nature lovers which offers fascinating blend of flora and fauna and breathtaking scenic beauty, This valley is the home for Shingbha Rhododendron Sanctuary with 24 species of Rhododendrons. A hot spring at the right side offers the spectacular view with the vast spread of green meadow and forest dressed in pine and silver fir trees. We proceed further upto Yumesamdong at an altitude of 16,000 feet, which also offers the breathtaking scenario. We drive back to Lachung. (Overnight stay in Lachung) |
Day 14: | :Lachung – Gangtok (1800 meters) We drive back to Gangtok. On the way we visit Phodong Monastery and Labrang Monastery. Phodong monastery is one of the six major monasteries in Sikkim. (Overnight stay in Gangtok) |
Day 15: | Gangtok – Bagdogra Drive to Bagdogra for your journey back home. |
